New Creations

Have you ever created anything? Designing and building a house, sand sculptures at the beach, a family, a new friend...? What was the purpose? How did it feel? Did you have a sense of accomplishment? Did it last long or was it temporary?
God is in the business of creating.  He created the heavens and the earth with all their glory.  He created mankind to worship and enjoy Him forever. He will create a new heaven and new earth at the culmination of time.  But for mankind, the greatest creation is the new creation He makes in you when you are in Christ and the former things are not remembered. “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind (Isaiah 65:17).”

You have been founded, established as something new. It’s like a new start-up company. Think of what Microsoft was like when it was first founded. There was nothing like it. It was new territory with endless opportunities. Is that how you look at yourself? As a new creation, do you see your endless opportunities, daily? All of these “new things” (endless opportunities) are from God.

And how did God make you a new creation?  He “reconciled us" — that is, He restored us to relationship with Him by satisfying the claims of justice against us. What are the claims of justice against us? Justice demands that our sin be paid for, but this payment was made for us through Jesus Christ. “That while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

By restoring that relationship with God, we have become a “new creature.”

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ...so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” We represent Him every day in all that we say and do. How can and will you represent the righteousness of God in Christ today?

Prayer
God, thank you for restoring relationship with me through your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to do likewise in restoring relationships that are broken in my life by being an ambassador of your love, kindness, and forgiveness today.

I was really stirred by Allen’s message yesterday. I spent some time in prayer just asking the Lord who it is that I need to be reconciled with. A couple of people came to my heart and mind so I asked the Lord to open a door of opportunity to fulfill his will in connecting me with these people so that I may be an ambassador of His Love.
