About Us

Thanks for stopping by. We’re glad you’re here and hope to see you at our Sunday service. Our services aren’t just something we attend or do. We aren’t just a building or an event. We are a people, the body of Christ, sinners saved by grace. That’s right. Our church is full of imperfect people, and that should make you feel all the more welcome. We all fall short of God’s glory and need a Savior—Jesus Christ.

Though our campus has its own distinct flavor, Journey Community Church is one church in two locations. Some things are definitive of our campus, but our vision, values, and beliefs are the same across campuses.

What should I expect?

At Journey, we want you to come as you are. You’ll see some people wearing their Sunday best and others wearing shorts and a t-shirt. We welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life because we believe the message of Jesus Christ is for everyone.

As you drive onto our campus, please follow the instructions of our parking team as they lead you to open sections of the parking lot. Once you’ve walked inside, you’ll be greeted by members of our Campus Connections Team. They’re available to you throughout your time on campus to answer questions and lead you where you need to go.

Our gatherings typically last an hour. We’ll hear a few words from one of our service hosts, and then the band will lead us in music. Song lyrics are projected on the screens so that you can engage with worship. Then we’ll listen to a hope-filled, encouraging message about Jesus from Pastor Bobby or another speaker on our teaching team.

Preschool (Birth – K)

JourneyLand Downtown is home to our newborns through kindergarteners. In JourneyLand, safety is our first priority. Within Downtown we have nursery classes for the smallest members of your family. Preschool-aged children can enjoy a small group and large group time where they will experience a Bible lesson, worship, and fun activities on their level.

Meeting Times

Sundays (during adult service):
11:00am

Check-In

You can bring all of your kids to the same JourneyLand check-in area. As a first-time guest, one of our team members will take care of you at the main desk and can answer any questions you may have.

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early to complete the check-in process.

Elementary (1st-5th Grade)

JourneyLand Uptown is home to our 1st-5th graders. Uptown kids participate in our large and small group experiences. Large group is a creative environment where they will worship together, play games, and receive relevant Bible teaching. During their small group time, they’ll engage with their leaders and other kids in prayer and hands-on activities that help support the large group Bible teaching.

One of our core values here at Journey is that we encourage one another to take Next Steps. One of the most important Next Steps you can take is to join a group! Doing life together is not only beneficial for you, but for others as well.

We offer three types of groups: CareConnect, and Community.

Care Groups are offered to people going through specific seasons of life. (CancerCare, DivorceCare, GriefShare).

Connect Groups, formerly called Access Groups, are short-term groups, classes, and studies that connect us to people and to God’s Word.

Community Groups, formerly called J-Groups, are “small groups” for people who want to do life together long-term.

Serve

Serving is one of the many Next Steps you can take here at Journey.

We serve others because of the example Jesus set during His life as He served His disciples and others around Him. You don’t have to be an expert to be a servant. Serving means offering the time, talents, and treasures that God has given you to help bring others closer to Jesus. Get more information about the serving teams at our Sherwood campus below.

Care Center

On the second Wednesday of each month from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, we open up our Care Center to the community. We currently offer a clothing closet and food pantry that is restocked monthly for all those in need.

Volunteers also have the opportunity to serve every Tuesday by sorting donated clothes from 10am-noon.
