"...when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!”

Why do Christians pray?

We believe that prayer is our opportunity to talk to God and allow Him to speak back to us. Conversations are essential in relationships, so prayer is one way to grow closer to God.

Creating a lifestyle of prayer

Many times people act first and then want God to bail them out of a situation. But, prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.

Maybe most people don’t enjoy prayer because they have never been taught how to pray.

That’s why we’ve created a simple prayer guide that can help you incorporate prayer into your life. Using several prayer models from the Bible, this booklet is designed to infuse joy into your time with God. When you discover the beauty of daily conversation with Him, your life will never be the same!

How Do I Start?

There is no secret formula to prayer. You don’t have to sit in a certain place or say certain words. All you have to do is start a conversation with God and be willing to listen to Him.

Pairing prayer with Bible reading is a great way to start any moment of prayer. You can begin this conversation by letting Him know that you are open and ready to hear what He has to say through His Word.

Here are some Bible study plans that focus on prayer:

What exactly is fasting, and how does it relate to prayer? The Bible shows that fasting is a great way to disconnect from something in our lives – like food, social media, or TV – and take time to connect with God.

Fasting pulls us away from distractions and allows us to spend time solely focused on God through dedicated prayer. You can choose to fast for several reasons: upcoming decisions, a fear of the unknown in a circumstance, a need for direction, repentance, or simply to grow closer to God. If you do decide to fast, we encourage you to incorporate prayer and scripture reading.

"And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you."
